KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — The Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, commemorates the world’s first successful powered flight by Orville and Wilbur Wright on December 17, 1903.
The monument is anchored by a 60‑foot granite Art Deco monument perched atop the stabilized 90‑foot Kill Devil Hill. The surrounding 428‑acre park features markers tracing the four flights, reconstructed hangar and living quarters from the 1903 camp, and a visitor center that houses a full‑scale reproduction of the 1903 Flyer, tools, glider models, and exhibits that bring the story of aviation’s origins to life.
