ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Alexandria Black History Museum was created to preserve and showcase the rich history and contributions of African Americans in the Northern Virginia region and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of African American heritage and its integral role in shaping the city and the nation. Housed in the historic Robert H. Robinson Library, the segregated library for Alexandria's African American community, the museum features a range of exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs that highlight the struggles, achievements, and daily lives of African Americans from the colonial era to today.
