ANNANDALE, Va. — The tree decorating and lighting and live music by the Annandale Terrace Elementary School’s 5th-grade chorus were the highlights of The Winter Wonderland Festival at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space in Annandale.

Hot cocoa, treats, and activities for children, including winter-themed crafts, were also available. Hosted by the Fairfax County Community Revitalization Section, this was the final community event at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space in 2024 and a great way to celebrate the season.

Sharing Malcolm's Story (NBC4/WRC-TV Interview)

ANNANDALE, Va. — Fentanyl continues to be a devastating issue affecting families in communities across America. After losing our loved one, Malcolm, in January 2023, my wife and I have been committed to raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and its impact on children in our local community. We recently sat down with News4 Investigative Reporter Tracee Wilkins for an interview as part of the weeklong “Fighting Fentanyl” series. The station has made the reports available on its website (nbcwashington.com/investigations/fighting-fentanyl-what-this-powerful-drug-is-taking-from-dc-area-families/3738111/) along with a resource page (nbcwashington.com/news/local/resources-how-to-find-help-in-the-dc-area-for-youth-fentanyl-users/3732524/) for families seeking help with opioid and substance abuse issues in the D.C. area.
